Work at CBC/Radio-Canada

At CBC/Radio‑Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. Our successes and accomplishments are driven by embodying and upholding values, which include creativity, integrity, inclusiveness and relevance.

Do you think you have the ability and drive to keep up with this exciting, ever‑changing industry? Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.

The Role

Are you a master of logistics, a Google Suite wizard, and a person who takes genuine pride in a perfectly organized space? The Unscripted Audio Department is looking for a resourceful Administrative Professional to join our team.

The Unscripted Audio department includes CBC Music, CBC Books, Q with Tom Power, Commotion with Elamin Abdelmahmoud, Now or Never, Under the Influence and new show development. Our work can be found on CBC’s radio networks and digital platforms, as well as on YouTube, podcast services and across social media. Our teams are passionate, engaged and best‑in‑class at curating, amplifying and celebrating culture and storytelling for Canadian audiences.

This is a hands‑on support role where no two days are the same. You will be the "glue" that holds the department together—providing high‑level support to our Senior Director, managing our physical office environment, and ensuring our team has the resources they need to succeed.

What Success Looks Like
  • You are the Ultimate Multitasker: You can switch from booking complex travel to fixing a paper jam to greeting a VIP guest without missing a beat.
  • You are a Google Suite Power User: You don’t just use Gmail; you optimize it. You are an expert in Docs, Sheets, and Slides, and you are comfortable helping others navigate these tools.
  • You are the "Host": You treat the office like your home base. You ensure the space is tidy, fully stocked, and welcoming. You are warm, polite, attentive and helpful to everyone who comes through the door, setting the tone for a great experience with our team.
Key Responsibilities
Executive & Department Support
  • Executive Management: Organize day‑to‑day operations for the Senior Director and Director, including calendar management, meeting preparation, and correspondence.
  • Logistics & Travel: Manage detailed travel arrangements (flights, hotels, itineraries) and handle all expense reporting and reconciliation.
  • Department Coordination: Maintain staff holiday calendars, manage studio bookings, and act as the central information hub for the team.
Office Operations & Environment
  • Office Pride: Coordinate the day‑to‑day appearance of the department. You proactively spot maintenance issues, manage the floor plan, organize files, and ensure the common areas are spotless and stocked.
  • Gatekeeping: Answer incoming calls, emails, and inquiries with professionalism, ensuring messages are detailed and guests are greeted warmly.
  • Events & Meetings: From setting up the boardroom for a pitch to organizing the department holiday party, you handle the scheduling, catering, setup, and cleanup.
General Administration
  • HR & Onboarding: Assist with HR paperwork, onboard new hires (security passes, desk setup, technical equipment), and ensure they feel welcome on day one.
  • Ad‑Hoc Support: Assist the production team with administrative tasks as they arise—filing, scanning, shipping/receiving, and "anything else they may need."
Qualifications & Attributes
Experience & Education
  • A University or College education with some work experience and/or 2+ years of experience performing administrative or coordination duties.
  • Digital Mindset: You possess superior knowledge of Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) and are proficient in Microsoft Office. You are comfortable learning new software and digital tools quickly.
Professional Skills
  • Organizational Pro: You have highly developed administrative skills with the ability to handle multiple conflicting priorities and meet tight deadlines without breaking a sweat.
  • Communicator: You communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and orally. You have strong interpersonal skills and genuinely enjoy working as part of a large team.
  • Discreet & Diplomatic: You have experience managing confidential files and sensitive matters. You act with tact, diplomacy, and high emotional intelligence in all situations.
Personal Attributes
  • Resourceful: You are a problem solver who finds answers when they aren't immediately obvious.
  • Self‑Starter: You are independent and detail‑oriented with a positive outlook, and show initiative in your work.
  • Flexible: You are able to work flexible hours and overtime as required.
Culture Fit & Assets
  • Curious: You bring enthusiasm and openness to new situations.
  • Inclusive: You hold space for new people, perspectives, and for music of all genres.
  • Knowledgeable: You possess general knowledge of CBC/Radio‑Canada and our content, and are passionate about Canadian culture.
  • Bilingual: Fluency in French is considered an asset, but is not required.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
