Job summary

Lakeridge Health Oshawa is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse for the G5 Acute Medicine unit. The role uses the nursing process to assess and monitor patients, document care, and support the health care team.

The RPN will supervise Personal Support Workers and maintain competency in current practice. Responsibilities include teaching and delegating tasks, ensuring safety, and contributing to quality improvements within the unit.

Qualifications

• Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college.
• Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from recognized body.
• Current Medication Certificate allowing administration of medications.
• CNA certification in geriatrics is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care on Acute Medicine (G5) unit using the nursing process per standards and CN Ontario scope.
• Assess patients, monitor status, document care, and participate in quality initiatives.
• Teach, delegate, and supervise Personal Support Workers in delivering patient care.

Education

Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college

Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing)

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Current Medication Certificate

CNA certification in geriatrics
