Job summary

Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering is seeking two Registered Practical Nurses for regular part-time positions in Acute Medicine (2W). Reporting to the Manager of Inpatient Medicine, you will deliver patient-centered care on 12-hour shifts across days, evenings, nights and weekends, in a multidisciplinary family-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.
• Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college.
• Competent to perform CPR at a basic Cardiac Life Support level.
• Current CPR/BCLS certificate.
• Health Assessment course from a recognized institution or equivalent course.
• Minimum 1 year of medical/surgical unit experience.
• CC1/Coronary Care 1 course or commitment to complete within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to complete in-house arrhythmia quiz within 6 weeks of CC1.
• Experience in neurology, nephrology, oncology, palliative care is an asset.
• Strong patient education and documentation skills; sound organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in a multidisciplinary family-centered environment.
• Provide personal patient care, monitor vital signs and administer medications.
• Monitor IVs and telemetry, set up medical equipment as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned and maintain high quality care.
