Job summary

Canada Life, a leading life insurance and financial services company, is seeking Actuarial Students for a 4- or 8-month temporary full-time placement at our Winnipeg head office. The hybrid role requires in-person work three days per week, with a program designed for students returning to school after a work term.

You will be exposed to areas such as Pricing & Product Development, Valuation and Financial Management, Asset & Liability Management, and Enterprise Risk Management, gaining business

Qualifications

  • Working towards a University degree, preferably with a major in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance or Statistics.
  • Strong academic achievements; include your most recent transcript.
  • Demonstrated commitment to actuarial field via exams, education, or similar.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Well organized with attention to detail and able to work independently as a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Pricing & Product Development, Valuation and Financial Management, and Asset & Liability Management.
  • Assist Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Actuarial, Internal Audit or Risk & Controls, and Marketing insights.
  • Collaborate with teams to deliver actuarial analysis and supporting documentation.
  • Participate in education and exam support programs and mentorship opportunities.

Temporary Full Time

This is a student position that is 4 or 8 months in duration. You must be a student registered in a Canadian College or University. This position is for students returning to school after their work term or requiring a placement as requirements for graduation. Canada Life, one of Canada’s leading life insurance and financial services companies, is seeking Actuarial Students with strong achievements in their academic studies and professional actuarial exams. This is a hybrid role located at our Winnipeg head office - the successful applicant will be required to work in person 3 days per week.

As an Actuarial Student you are a key member of a highly respected, professional, actuarial team and will have an opportunity to work in areas such as:

Qualifications
  • Working towards a University degree, preferably with a major in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance or Statistics. This post is for students returning to school after their work term.
  • Strong achievements in academic studies. Please include a copy of your most-recent transcript with your application.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the actuarial field through successful completion of professional actuarial exams, an actuarial education, or similar.
  • Innovative problem-solver.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Well organized, delivering accurate work with an attention to detail, in a timely manner.
  • Team player who is also comfortable working independently.
  • Excel, Word, VBA, MS Access and Moody’s AXIS experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge or interest in insurance/reinsurance, market risk, and investments is an asset.

The base salary for this position is between $46,440 - $80,280 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc). If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.

For our student opportunities, the base salary will be dependent on the number of work terms you have completed along with other factors depending on your program.
