Job summary

RBC Insurance seeks an Actuarial Co‑op Student to gain hands‑on experience in the life insurance arena while tackling real business challenges and receiving structured leadership access across actuarial teams.

You will apply, enhance, and develop experience in pricing, valuation, and capital discussions, collaborating with teams to deliver insights and value to clients and the organization.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a university degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics.
• Solid MS Office and analytical capabilities with strong problem-solving.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly motivated self-starter and team player.
• Nice-to-have: CAS/SOA exams (1–3) completed.
• Prior actuarial exposure or familiarity with IFRS17 is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Learn and influence end-to-end pricing, modelling, valuation and capital processes.
• Create life pricing and valuation models for complex products with actuarial input.
• Validate key assumptions and apply market insights to identify trends.
• Use AXIS, R, SQL and MS Excel to analyze results and present findings.
• Develop and enhance tools to streamline actuarial workflows.
• Collaborate with actuarial and non-actuarial colleagues to drive results.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly valuation reporting and communicate outcomes to management.
• Model and analyze Special Quotes to better serve clients’ needs.
• Support capital measurement analysis and reporting on a monthly basis.
