Job summary

Blue Cross Life Insurance Company of Canada seeks an Actuarial Analyst for an 18-month contract within the Pricing team. You will build, maintain, and enhance AXIS pricing models for individual life insurance products and contribute to pricing initiatives.

You will collaborate with colleagues across actuarial, product, finance, and operations to support product development, pricing strategy, and reinsurance activities, while updating assumptions and conducting sensitivity analyses.

Your Impact Join our Pricing team, where your analytical expertise helps shape products that make a difference in people's lives. This is an 18-month contract opportunity with the potential to become permanent based on business needs. As an Actuarial Analyst, you'll support the development and pricing of individual life insurance solutions while collaborating with colleagues across Canada. You'll contribute to initiatives spanning pricing analysis, product development, reinsurance, profitability reporting, and model enhancement, helping drive informed business decisions and the continued success of Blue Cross Life.

As an Actuarial Analyst, You Will Build, maintain, and enhance AXIS pricing models for individual life insurance products, including assumption updates, model input and output development, and sensitivity and scenario testing. Perform actuarial analyses to support new product development, product enhancements, and other pricing initiatives. Evaluate pricing outcomes, experience studies, and market trends to provide insights and recommendations that support product design and pricing decisions. Partner with colleagues across actuarial, product, finance, operations, and other business areas to advance product development and pricing strategies. Support reinsurance activities by preparing information for quotations, reviewing pricing analyses, and assisting in the evaluation of reinsurance arrangements. Develop and maintain reporting and analysis related to product profitability, emerging experience, and key business and industry trends. Contribute to the implementation, validation, and testing of new products and product changes within quotation tools and administrative systems. Identify opportunities to strengthen actuarial models, tools, and processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.

What You'll Bring to the Team Completion of at least two actuarial exams and active progress toward an ASA and ACIA designation. 2+ years of actuarial experience, ideally within individual life insurance pricing, product development, or a related area. Experience using AXIS to develop and modify models, perform pricing analyses, and conduct sensitivity and scenario testing. Advanced Excel skills, including experience working with complex spreadsheets and formulas. Experience with VBA is considered an asset. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex actuarial findings into clear business insights. The ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Exposure to reinsurance and/or IFRS 17 is considered an asset. English is requirement, written and verbal, to provide services to our customers and communicate with internal stakeholders. Bilingualism (ENG/FR) is considered an asset.

Compensation $58,000 - $66,500 CAD #CBM1 This posting is for a newly created position within our organization. The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Blue Cross Life employees may participate in various performance-based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.
