Blue Cross Life Insurance Company of Canada is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join a leading national team focused on profitability and product insights. You will analyze quarterly reports, price group life products, and support underwriting for complex quotes across Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Complete quarterly reporting to analyze and monitor the profitability of group insurance products.
  • Identify and implement enhancements to reporting processes to support efficiency initiatives.
  • Create and/or populate actuarial models to price various group life products and revisions.
  • Provide support to the underwriting team for large/complex quotes.
  • Communicate with reinsurance partners regarding quotations and technical pricing models and evaluate/review reinsurance treaties.
  • Support the implementation and testing of new products or product changes in quotation tools and administrative systems.
  • Adapt current business processes and tools to test and accommodate the roll-out of new IT systems and data sources.

As an Actuarial Analyst, no two days will look the same. You’ll have the opportunity to play a significant role in ensuring the company’s objectives for profitability are achieved and collaborate with people from various teams from Blue Cross organizations across Canada. You’ll need strong analytical skills and a love for data/analytics.

As an Actuarial Analyst, you will
  • Complete quarterly reporting to analyze and monitor the profitability of group insurance products
  • Identify and implement enhancements to reporting processes to support our efficiency initiatives
  • Create and/or populate actuarial models to price various group life products and revisions
  • Provide support to the underwriting team for large/complex quotes

What you need to succeed
  • University degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or another closely related field
  • Progress toward ASA and/or ACIA designation considered an asset
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in process improvement and automation initiatives
  • Experience building, documenting, and maintaining business process models
  • Strong problem-solving skills with proven ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues within complex data sets
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative project team
  • Knowledge of group insurance products considered an asset
  • Bilingualism (EN/FR) is considered an asset. English is requirement, written and verbal, to provide services to our customers and communicate with internal stakeholders
Pay Range

$53,236 - $$69,000 CAD

This posting is for an existing vacancy within our organization.

The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Blue Cross Life employees may participate in various performance-based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.
