Job summary

Blue Cross Life Insurance Company of Canada (Blue Cross Life) is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to support profitability goals and collaborate across Canada. The role offers flexible remote work within Canada or hybrid/onsite options in Moncton or Quebec offices.

You will analyze group insurance profitability, develop models, and assist underwriting on large quotes with a strong emphasis on data and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or another closely related field.
  • Progress toward ASA and/or ACIA designation considered an asset.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with process improvement and automation initiatives.
  • Experience building, documenting, and maintaining business process models.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues in complex data sets.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team.
  • Knowledge of group insurance products is an asset.
  • Bilingual EN/FR is an asset; English is required for service delivery and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Complete quarterly reporting to analyze and monitor profitability of group insurance products.
  • Identify and implement enhancements to reporting processes to support efficiency initiatives.
  • Create and/or populate actuarial models to price various group life products and revisions.
  • Provide support to underwriting for large/complex quotes.
  • Communicate with reinsurance partners on quotations and pricing models; evaluate reinsurance treaties.
  • Support the implementation and testing of new products in quotation tools and systems.
  • Adapt processes and tools to test new IT systems and data sources.

Your everyday with us As an Actuarial Analyst, no two days will look the same. You’ll have the opportunity to play a significant role in ensuring the company’s objectives for profitability are achieved and collaborate with people from various teams from Blue Cross organizations across Canada. You’ll need strong analytical skills and a love for data/analytics. This role offers flexibility to work remotely within Canada, or in a hybrid or in-office arrangement based out of our Moncton or Quebec offices.

Responsibilities
  • Complete quarterly reporting to analyze and monitor the profitability of group insurance products
  • Identify and implement enhancements to reporting processes to support our efficiency initiatives
  • Create and/or populate actuarial models to price various group life products and revisions
  • Provide support to the underwriting team for large/complex quotes
  • Communicate with reinsurance partners regarding quotations and technical pricing models and evaluate/review reinsurance treaties
  • Support the implementation and testing of new products or product changes in quotation tools and administrative systems
  • Adapt current business processes and tools to test and accommodate the roll-out of new IT systems and data sources
What you need to succeed

University degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or another closely related field

  • Progress toward ASA and/or ACIA designation considered an asset
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in process improvement and automation initiatives
  • Experience building, documenting, and maintaining business process models
  • Strong problem-solving skills with proven ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues within complex data sets
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative project team
  • Knowledge of group insurance products considered an asset
  • Bilingualism (EN/FR) is considered an asset. English is requirement, written and verbal, to provide services to our customers and communicate with internal stakeholders
Salary and Benefits

Pay Range $53,236 - $$69,000 CAD

#CBM1 This posting is for an existing vacancy within our organization / Ce poste est actuellement vacant au sein de notre organisation. The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Blue Cross Life employees may participate in various performance-based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.
