Job summary

Northern Health is seeking an Activity Worker to support the Recreational Therapy department in Fort St. John. You will implement and participate in activity programs within a client- and family-centered care model under supervision.

The role involves coordinating activities, communicating effectively both verbally and in writing, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Weekend or evening events may be required, with opportunities to contribute to community wellness here in northern BC.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 and completion of recognized recreation course(s).
  • Two years of recent related experience or equivalent education/training.
  • Valid Class 4 vehicle license required.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out an established activity/recreation/leisure program as directed.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team in a client and family centered care model.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating therapeutic recreation activities.

Position Summary

Are you looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Recreational Therapy department.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the Activity Worker is a member of the multidisciplinary team within a client and family centered model of care and is responsible for carrying out an established activity/recreation/leisure program as directed.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work:

Days, 08:30 to 14:45 (rotating)

There may be weekends and evenings required for special events

Qualfications
  • Grade 12, plus completion of recognized recreation course(s)
  • Two year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid class 4 vehicle license.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
