Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care is seeking an Activation Worker to plan and lead daily activation, recreation and social programs for residents of the LTC Home. The role emphasizes resident‑centred activities that support dignity, independence and well‑being.

Under the supervision of the Activation Manager, you will develop meaningful programmes for seniors, including Chinese‑language activities, while working within a supportive team and budget constraints.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or equivalent.
• Experience in social services or long‑term care is an asset.
• Experience and skills in facilitating activation and therapeutic recreation programmes, preferably with geriatrics.
• Creativity and innovativeness in developing meaningful programmes.
• Excellent customer service skills and initiative to support clients and team.
• Computer literacy; knowledge of Chinese word processing is an asset.
• CPR certificate, Food Handler Safety certificate, and Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Ability to communicate in English and Chinese.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct daily activation, recreational and social programs for residents.
• Support resident well‑being and quality of life through person‑centred activities.
• Collaborate with Activation Manager and care teams to tailor activities to resident needs.
• Utilise resources effectively within a fixed budget.
• Maintain safety standards and documentation for program activities.

Under the supervision of the Activation Manager, the Activation Worker plans and conducts daily activation, recreational and social programs for residents of the LTC Home that reflects the organization’s resident centred approach to improve and maintain the residents’ quality of life in the Home.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or equivalent
• Experience in a social services or long‑term care setting an asset
• Experience and skills in facilitating activation and therapeutic recreation programmes, preferably working with the geriatric population
• Creativity and innovativeness in developing meaningful programmes for clients within a tight budget
• Superb customer service skills
• Demonstrated initiative to support the clients and team in a positive and efficient manner
• Computer literacy
• Knowledge of Chinese word processing, an asset
• Current CPR Certificate
• Current Food Handler Safety Certificate
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen
• Ability to communicate in English and Chinese

Salary Range

$21.97 - $24.51
