Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Markham, Ontario seeks an Activation Worker to plan and conduct daily activation, recreational and social programs for residents under supervision of the Activation Manager. The role supports a resident-centred approach to enhance quality of life in the home.
The successful candidate will have a recreation or therapies background, experience in long-term care, strong customer service, and the ability to work with English and Chinese speakers.
Under the supervision of the Activation Manager, the Activation Worker plans and conducts daily activation, recreational and social programs for residents of the LTC Home that reflects the organization's resident centred approach to improve and maintain the residents' quality of life in the Home.
Qualifications: Diploma in Recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or equivalent Experience in a social services or long-term care setting an asset Experience and skills in facilitating activation and therapeutic recreation programs, preferably working with the geriatric population Creativity and innovativeness in developing meaningful programs for clients within a tight budget Superb customer service skills. Demonstrated initiative to support the clients and team in a positive and efficient manner. Computer literacy. Knowledge of Chinese word processing, an asset Current CPR Certificate Current Food Handler Safety Certificate Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen Ability to communicate in English and Chinese.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions: Some lifting and transfer Occasional travel within the Greater Toronto Area Use of own Vehicle
