Job summary

Yee Hong is seeking an Activation Worker to plan and conduct daily activation, recreational, and social programs for residents in a long-term care home. This role emphasizes a resident-centred approach to enhance quality of life and involves coordinating with a supportive team.

The ideal candidate will have a recreational therapy-related diploma, experience in geriatric settings, and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Recreation and leisure studies or equivalent.
• Experience in social services or long-term care is an asset.
• Experience in activation/therapeutic recreation, preferably with geriatric population.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct daily activation, recreational and social programs.

Job description

Under the supervision of the Activation Manager, the Activation Worker plans and conducts daily activation, recreational and social programs for residents of the LTC Home that reflects the organization's resident centred approach to improve and maintain the residents' quality of life in the Home.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or equivalent
• Experience in a social services or long-term care setting an asset
• Experience and skills in facilitating activation and therapeutic recreation programs, preferably working with the geriatric population
• Creativity and innovativeness in developing meaningful programs for clients within a tight budget
• Superb customer service skills. Demonstrated initiative to support the clients and team in a positive and efficient manner.
• Computer literacy. Knowledge of Chinese word processing, an asset
• Current CPR Certificate
• Current Food Handler Safety Certificate
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen
• Ability to communicate in English and Chinese

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

• Some lifting and transfer
• Occasional travel within the Greater Toronto Area
• Use of own Vehicle
