Job summary

Hypertec is seeking a Buyer to join our Montreal Purchasing team. You will develop purchasing strategies, negotiate with suppliers, and drive cost efficiencies across categories.

The ideal candidate has 4 years of experience in purchasing, strong negotiation skills, and fluency in French and English. This hybrid role offers in-office collaboration three days a week with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• 4 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in distribution.
• Hands-on supplier negotiation experience.
• Strong understanding of margins, pricing, and purchasing costs.
• Experience with ERP or purchasing platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies for assigned categories.
• Negotiate pricing, margins, discounts, promotions, payment terms, and other commercial conditions.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and strategic partners.
• Identify new sources of supply and new business opportunities.
• Analyze sales, margins, costs, inventory turnover, and stock levels to maximize profitability.
• Collaborate with merchandising, sales, marketing, operations, logistics, and finance teams.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Contribute to reducing stockouts, excess inventory, and procurement costs.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of purchasing processes and tools.

What You’ll Be Contributing:

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies for assigned categories.
• Negotiate pricing, margins, discounts, promotions, payment terms, and other commercial conditions.

• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• A collaborative approach and strong team spirit.
• High level of autonomy and a strong results‑oriented mindset.
• Fluency in both French and English, spoken and written, with English required to communicate and provide support to suppliers and strategic partners in the United States.
