Job summary

Recochem in Montreal is seeking an Accounts Payable and Transportation Technician to ensure timely and accurate invoice posting and vendor communications. Reporting to the Manager, you will handle high-volume AP tasks and collaborate with carriers to resolve invoicing issues.

The role requires a commerce or accounting background, at least 3 years in transportation or freight, and experience with ERP and TMS systems (preferably Oracle Transportation Management).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in commerce or DEC in accounting or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation/freight, manufacturing, or industrial organization.
• Experience with transportation/freight invoices and knowledge of related documents (BOL, POD).
• Understanding of freight rates and fuel surcharge.
• Experience with a transportation management system (TMS), preferably OTM.
• Organized and efficient to meet deadlines and other requirements.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience with an ERP and the ability to learn and navigate new ERP environments.

Responsibilities

• Process high-volume AP with multiple vendor assignments.
• Audit EDI and carrier portal invoices; ensure billing rates align to contract pricing in Oracle Transportation Management.
• Collaborate with vendors to manage end-to-end invoicing; train vendors to use the portal.
• Verify, code and match invoices (outside OTM) and post into the ERP.
• Ensure transactions comply with company policies and procedures.
• Investigate and reconcile invoice discrepancies with vendors and internal teams to minimize aging balances.
• Support AP Group Leader in process-improvement projects.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as defined.

Accounts Payable and Transportation Technician

Reporting to the Manager, the Accounts Payable Technician plays a key role in ensuring timely and accurate invoice posting through effective processes.

Key Responsibilities

• High volume AP processing with multiple vendor assignments
• Audit EDI and carrier portal invoices and ensure billing rates and accessorial fees are aligned to contract pricing in Oracle Transportation Management System
• Work directly with vendors to manage end-to-end invoicing and timely processing; trouble-shoot EDI invoice submittals with vendors, and train vendors to use portal as needed.
• Verify, code and match invoices (outside OTM) and post into the ERP
• Verify that transactions comply with company policies and procedures.
• Investigate and reconcile invoice discrepancies directly with vendors and other internal departments to manage AP process and minimize aging balances.
• Support the Group Leader of Accounts Payable in projects oriented towards process improvements
• Perform miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as defined

Candidate’s Profile

• A bachelor’s in commerce, a college diploma in accounting (DEC) or equivalent experience
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation/freight, manufacturing, or industrial organization, with a strong knowledge of accounts payable principles and systems.
• Previous experience with transportation or freight invoices and knowledge of the corresponding documentation (e.g. Bills Of Lading and Proof Of Delivery)
• Understanding of freight rates and fuel surcharge
• Experience with a transportation management system (TMS), preferrable OTM (asset)
• Organized and efficient to meet deadlines and other requirements
• Great communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with an ERP and demonstrate an ease to learn and adapt to new ERP environment
