Slegg Building Materials - Sidney seeks an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to manage key vendor accounts and support the AP team in daily processing. You will reconcile statements, assist with month-end activities, and help strengthen internal controls while delivering strong service to internal and external customers.

Based in Sidney, BC, the role requires 3-5 years in senior AP, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Position Purpose

The Accounts Payable Specialist focuses on key vendor accounts as well as working with the AP team providing support where needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as an ambassador of the company with all employees and customers
• Focuses on key vendor accounts and rectify discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Liaisons with other departments to solve issues.
• Provides support in improving payment processes and ensuring internal controls are met.
• Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
• Carries out month-end procedures, accruals and prepares reconciliations.
• Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
• Provides training and guidance to staff when required.
• Reports sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices.
• Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
• Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
• Demonstrates superior customer service when speaking with the public.
• Maintain an emphasis on a safety culture, customer service, and efficiency as top priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3-5 years’ experience in a Senior Accounts Payable role
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail orientated with disciplined work habits.
• Proven ability to effectively prioritize and organize workflow to ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment and able to adapt to shifting priorities.
• Takes initiative, is proactive in their work, and results oriented.
• Strong technical skills including advanced Microsoft Office and MS Navigation
• Proven ability to work in a team environment. A positive can-do attitude is essential.

The (range of) compensation for this position is $55,200.00 to $65,100.00
