Job description

Job Title: Accounting Technician
Job Description

This role is responsible for the reporting and analysis of Goods Receipt and Invoice Receipt variances, as well as assisting the team with other Accounts Payable reporting tasks. The primary function of this position is the ability to work effectively with multiple teams across the company to help resolve purchase order and invoicing issues in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • Keep financial records and establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems.
  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers, and prepare financial statements.
  • Calculate and prepare cheques for payrolls and for utility, tax, and other bills.
  • Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms, and other government documents.
  • Prepare tax returns and perform other personal bookkeeping services.
  • Prepare other statistical, financial, and accounting reports.
  • Conduct weekly Accounts Payable reporting and root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with various business units to resolve purchase order and invoice discrepancies.
  • Perform month-end activities such as journal entries and monthly general ledger reconciliations.
  • Review Accounts Payable Aging reporting and manage Accounts Payable debits process.
  • Support the project to clear outstanding purchase orders, ensuring that balances are reduced and cleared efficiently.
Essential Skills
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and emerging trends from data sets, including proficiency in H&V lookups, Pivot Tables, and formulas.
  • 2+ years of experience in an Accounts Payable or Accounting role.
  • Experience with large ERP systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in SAP is beneficial.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills for invoice and purchase order discrepancies.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Experience processing 50-100 invoices daily is advantageous.
  • Understanding and investigation of purchase orders.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
