Job summary

Hypertec Group is seeking an Accounting Technician to join our Construction team in Montreal. You will process vendor invoices, match them to purchase orders, and collaborate with Procurement, Project Controllers, and Project Managers to resolve issues.

You will also prepare customer invoices, handle payments, and assist with month-end close. This role requires 2–5 years of accounting experience, a relevant degree, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with SAP or a comparable ERP system is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices and ensure appropriate supporting documentation is received.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and investigate discrepancies.
• Coordinate with Procurement, Project Controllers, and Project Managers to resolve invoice issues.
• Prepare customer invoices, progress billings, and credit memos as required.
• Apply customer payments and assist with monitoring outstanding receivables.
• Process journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals and prepaid expenses.
• Maintain project cost records and ensure transactions are coded correctly.
• Support Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting by providing accurate accounting information.
• Maintain organized electronic documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.

What Sets You Apart:

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Experience in the construction industry is considered a strong asset.
• Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with SAP or a comparable ERP system is preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
