Job summary

CBRE Accounting Services is seeking an Accounting Supervisor in Toronto to lead a team handling AR, AP, revenue recognition, policy management, and financial reporting. You will drive compliance, partner with stakeholders, and support process improvements in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree (CPA asset), and strong MS Office skills. On-site position with CBRE’s Advisory team in Canada.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience; advanced accounting knowledge.
  • CPA or other accounting designation is an asset.
  • Experience in staffing, training, coaching, and performance retention preferred.
  • Ability to convey complex information and set performance expectations.
  • Leadership skills to motivate and improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and other MS Office tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and inquisitive mindset.
  • Strong math skills for percentage and other financial calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise employees, conduct performance evaluations, and handle hiring.
  • Coordinate daily team activities, schedule work, and cross-train staff.
  • Motivate and negotiate with staff and clients while focusing on quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial and operational reports to support decisions.

About The Role

As an Accounting Supervisor within CBRE's Advisory business, you will lead a team overseeing accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue recognition, policy management, and financial reporting activities. You will drive operational excellence, ensure compliance with accounting and regulatory standards, support process improvements, and partner with key stakeholders to deliver accurate financial insights that support business performance and exceptional client service. This role offers the opportunity to develop talent, enhance processes, and make a meaningful impact in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide formal supervision to employees. Monitor the training and development of staff. Conduct performance evaluations and coaching. Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees.
  • Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities. Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff. Set and track staff and department deadlines. Mentor and coach as needed.
  • Motivate and negotiate with employees, management, and client groups to take the desired actions. Provide an accent on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the job discipline and.
  • Confirm financial and operational reports are accurate. Provide reliable information to make informed business recommendations.
  • Partake in system conversions and enhancement. Provide scoping information, testing, and feedback.
  • Ensure that the systems follow financial processes and procedures, accounting standards, legal tax requirements, management expectations, and applicable regulations.
  • Assist with audit procedures. Set department deadlines. Contribute to forecasting and budgets.
  • Administer accounting practices to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Create presentations to internal clients, top management, and public groups.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Influence parties of shared interests to reach an agreement.
  • Apply knowledge of own discipline and how own discipline integrates with others to achieve team and departmental objectives.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day and moderately complex issues which may or may not be evident in existing systems and processes.
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Advanced knowledge of accounting fundamentals.
  • CPA or other accounting designation is an asset
  • Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention preferred.
  • Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations and handle problems.
  • Leadership skills to motivate team impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the job discipline and department.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Extensive organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.
  • Advanced math skills. Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.
