Job summary

Canadian Natural is seeking an Accounting Student for an internship at our Calgary, AB head office. The role offers exposure across Accounts Payable, Audit, Financial Accounting, Royalty, Operations, and Property Accounting, with mentorship and meaningful project work.

Term starts include January 2027 (8 months), May 2027 (4/8/12 months), and September 2027 (8/12 months). Paid time off and relocation support under the student policy are available where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in 2nd or 3rd year of an undergraduate degree in Accounting.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic accounting concepts is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Process capital, revenue, royalty and expense amounts per governing agreements.
  • Prepare reports, journal entries and statements of accounts.
  • Reconcile and analyze various general ledger accounts.
  • Set up and manage oil and gas properties and their transaction files.
  • Gather, research, review, vouch, enter and confirm data accuracy.
  • Clarify and respond to queries from partners and internal departments.
  • Process audit queries from outside partners and internal audit.
  • Contribute to project work.

  • Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office
  • Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday)

Key Accountabilities:

What You Bring to the Role:

  • Currently enrolled in your 2nd or 3rd year of an undergraduate degree program in Accounting, with a commitment to a career in Accounting
  • Attention to detail is critical, as are strong analytical skills with a strong work ethic and effective communication skills
  • Familiarity with and understanding of:
    • Accounting concepts and principles
    • Research strategies and analytical thinking
    • Microsoft Excel
