Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting various accounting functions. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in accounting software. The Accounting Specialist will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for executing the accounting procedures of the company.
  • On time processing duties in accounts payable, receivable, analysis or reporting.
  • Daily invoicing, uploading invoices to customer portals, collection, AR reporting.
  • Create and maintain customer accounts in the financial system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Maintain customer commission and vendor rebate files: Track and maintain accurate records of customer commissions and vendor rebates, ensuring timely processing and reporting.
  • Assist in identifying required month-end accruals.
  • Reconciling selected general ledger accounts as assigned.
  • Assist with financial analysis: Support the controller with financial analysis, including variance analysis, budget vs. actuals, and ad-hoc reporting to support strategic decision-making.
  • Assisting in other areas as may be necessary to ensure the efficient operation of the accounting department.
  • Flexible to work overtime during month end and year end.
  • All other duties as needed.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
  • Post-secondary education required.
  • 1-4 years' experience in a related field required.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, SAP, Oracle).
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and protects privacy of confidential/sensitive information.
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously establishing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentations) with executive leadership, staff, and internal and external clients.
  • Proactive; exercises sound judgment and decision making; able to identify problems and needs and develop solutions and/or options.
  • Self-confident, self-motivated polished professional who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.

Work primarily in a climate-controlled indoor environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Hearing protection, safety shoes, vision, and other protection required when in manufacturing areas.

This role operates in a professional office environment that requires some exposure to a manufacturing environment. Employee is rarely exposed to non-toxic/nuisance smells from chemicals, airborne dust, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, and hot/humid environmental conditions in the manufacturing areas.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines. The position occasionally requires light lifting of up to 10lbs; sedentary activity.

The employee is required to travel 0% of time by vehicle, plane with overnight stays.
