Job summary

The Floor Show, located in Winnipeg, is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. You will direct month-end close, cash flow forecasting, and collaboration with parent-company finance teams.

The ideal candidate has five+ years in accounting, retail or manufacturing experience, and strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, or related discipline.
• Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting.
• Retail or manufacturing experience is preferred.
• CPA designation is preferred.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Vice-President, as theAccounting Manager you lead the accounting function, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow oversight, internal controls, and team development of the business unit, while ensuring compliance with corporate policies.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing month-end and year-end close processes to ensure complete, accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Supporting cash flow forecasting and capital expenditure reporting.
• Preparing annual budgets and forecasts, monitoring financial performance, investigating significant variances and providing recommendations to leadership.
• Developing, documenting, implementing and monitoring effective internal controls, accounting procedures and financial practices consistent with parent-company requirements.
• Reviewing financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules for accuracy and completeness.
• Supporting external audits, tax filings and regulatory reporting requests, including the preparation and review of supporting documentation.
• Reviewing and approving payroll submissions, including commissions, bonuses and other pay adjustments, for processing.
• Identifying and communicating significant accounting, tax and internal control matters requiring management attention.
• Maintaining a functional relationship with the Regional Controller and collaborating with parent-company finance teams on technical accounting, reporting, policy and compliance matters.
• Overseeing fixed asset accounting, including asset additions, disposals, depreciation and reconciliation to capital expenditure records.
• Leading, supervising, coaching and developing the Accounting team members, while promoting a collaborative work environment.
• Providing financial analysis, ad hoc reporting and support for business planning, operational decisions and special projects.

• Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, including experience managing a full-cycle accounting function.
• Minimum three years of accounting experience in a retail or manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls and account reconciliation processes.
• Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
• Proficient using office equipment and Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint) and accounting software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
• Previous experience supervising, coaching and developing an accounting team is preferred.

Work Conditions

You primarily work in an office setting during regular business hours. Work outside of normal business hours may be required.
