Job summary

Ecogest Canada is seeking an Accounting Manager to independently manage accounting functions from start to finish and support preparation of accurate financial information. The role reports in person to Head Office in Ayr, ON, with occasional travel to Italy during year-end close.

The position is a current vacancy within the organization, offering responsibilities from AR and invoicing through to consolidated financial statements for Canadian entities.

Qualifications

• Experience with excavation equipment such as excavators is preferred.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems, gardening, horticulture, and landscape maintenance is desirable.
• Mechanical knowledge related to tool operation and maintenance is a plus.
• Experience with hand tools and power tools is beneficial.
• Strong physical stamina with outdoor work in varying weather.
• Basic understanding of landscape design principles is advantageous.
• Construction/landscaping experience is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
• Ability to follow safety guidelines and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage accounts receivable, invoicing, and related accounting activities.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including adjusting and accrual entries.
• Own month-end, interim, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare interim and year-end financial statements with reconciliations.
• Perform general ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements for Canadian entities.
• Apply Canadian accounting principles and reporting requirements.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and meet deadlines.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in Canada and Italy.
• Be available for occasional short business trips to Italy during year-end close.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the month-end, interim, and year-end financial close processes;
• Prepare interim and year-end financial statements, including account reconciliations and supporting schedules;
• Perform general ledger reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies;
• Prepare consolidated financial statements for Canadian entities within the corporate group;
• Apply Canadian accounting principles and financial reporting requirements in the preparation of financial information;
• Maintain accurate and complete accounting records while ensuring deadlines are consistently met;
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including colleagues in Canada and Italy;
• Be available for occasional short business trips to Italy, particularly during the annual year-end financial close, as required

Compensation

• Salary: CA$130,000- CA$135,000
• Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
