Job description

Are you an experienced CPA with a passion for meaningful work and a strong skillset for reviewing and leading assurance and tax engagements?

Join Stolz Gallant Accountants & Advisors' growing team in a management role in Abbotsford, BC, where your expertise will make a real impact by supporting one of the Partners with managing engagements, reviewing files for compliance with professional and firm standards, and mentoring staff.

This role would be a great fit for someone currently working in a larger firm who is looking for improved work-life balance, broader technical exposure, less bureaucracy, and greater opportunities for professional growth.

Stolz Gallant Accountants & Advisors (www.stolzgallant.ca) is a growing accounting and advisory firm (Stolz CPA Inc. is the assurance division) providing professional public accounting, assurance, and tax services to small businesses, individuals, not-for-profit organizations, and Indigenous communities across British Columbia.

Our Service Lines

  • 40% assurance (audits and reviews)
  • 20% compilations
  • 25% tax
  • 15% bookkeeping and consulting
  • Microsoft 365 for productivity and collaboration (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
  • BigTime Delivery for project management and time tracking
  • Caseware for audits and other accounting engagements
  • TaxCycle for preparing and filing tax returns

Our continued double-digit growth has resulted in us moving to a larger office space (yet to be announced), and we are looking to expand our team of nine professionals. This position requires a CPA designation and at least five years of public practice experience.

This role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on involvement in complex assurance and tax engagements. As an ideal candidate, you work efficiently and are adept at preparing and reviewing compilation, review, and audit engagements, with a thorough understanding of financial reporting frameworks for Canadian not-for-profit organizations, private enterprises, and Indigenous communities.

You are comfortable completing and reviewing engagements with minimal supervision, communicating effectively with clients, and mentoring team members at all levels. You have exceptional attention to detail, take pride in producing high-quality work, and are mindful of budgets and deadlines. We support flexible work arrangements and value a balanced lifestyle alongside professional excellence.

Why Join Us?
  • Meaningful and Diverse Work - Work with a broad range of clients, including entrepreneurs, not-for-profit organizations, Indigenous communities, and individuals throughout British Columbia.
  • Broader Technical Exposure - Gain experience across assurance, tax, advisory, compilations, bookkeeping, and consulting services rather than being confined to a narrow specialty.
  • Direct Access to Leadership - Work closely with the Partners, contribute ideas, and help influence the firm's continued growth and success.
  • Supportive Team Culture - Join a collaborative environment that values mentorship, professional development, continuous learning, and mutual respect.
  • True Work-Life Balance - No required overtime even during busy season, minimal travel, flexible work arrangements, and a firm culture that focuses on results rather than micromanagement.
  • Career Growth Opportunities - As our firm continues to grow, you'll have opportunities to expand your leadership responsibilities, develop management skills, and help shape the future direction of the practice.
  • Modern Technology and Processes - Leverage industry-leading software and cloud-based tools that enable efficient and high-quality client service.
Responsibilities
  • Review assurance, compilation, bookkeeping, and tax engagements prepared by staff to ensure compliance with professional standards and firm quality requirements.
  • Manage engagements by overseeing timelines, budgets, workflow, and client communications.
  • Prepare and review complex assurance engagements, including audits, reviews, and compilations.
  • Prepare and review complex tax engagements, including personal, corporate, charity, and partnership tax returns.
  • Assist the Partners with special consulting and advisory projects.
  • Mentor, coach, and train junior staff.
  • Build and maintain trusted client relationships through responsive and professional communication.
  • Contribute positively to the firm's culture and ongoing development.
Who We're Looking For
  • CPA designated in Canada with 5+ years of public practice experience.
  • Strong technical skills in assurance and tax engagements.
  • Proven ability to review files and provide constructive feedback to staff.
  • Energetic work ethic with a commitment to both productivity and work-life balance.
  • Comfortable using technology and learning new systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills that contribute to a positive learning environment.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong English writing, speaking, and listening skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Annual salary range of $90,000 to $120,000, depending on experience.
  • Vacation starting at three weeks annually.
  • $3,000 annual Health Spending Account.
  • Matching RRSP program (up to 4%).
