Job summary

Burke Recruiting Inc. in partnership with a Vancouver Island CPA firm is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to lead compilation engagements and tax work.

The role blends public practice responsibilities with a hybrid work setup on the North Island. You will handle T2, T1, and T3 returns, review junior staff work, and manage files and deadlines independently while providing client advisory support and CRA liaison as needed.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of Canadian public practice experience.
• Accounting diploma or degree.
• CPA, final-stage CFE writer, or experienced senior accounting technician.
• Strong CaseWare and Taxprep experience.
• Excellent technical, organizational, and communication skills.

Our public practice client is a respected CPA firm serving the North Island for over 50 years. We're seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our team and work with a diverse group of long-standing clients.

Responsibilities:

• Lead complex compilation engagements using CaseWare
• Prepare T2, T1, and T3 tax returns
• Review bookkeeping and junior staff work
• Handle complex bookkeeping, GST/PST, and reconciliations
• Assist with CRA requests, audits, and client advisory
• Manage client files and deadlines independently
