Job summary

Sobeys Inc. is seeking an Accounting Manager, Standards & Policies to lead IFRS compliance, policy development, and advisory support across the Finance organization.

This role oversees audit committee materials and policy interpretations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls. The ideal candidate holds an undergraduate degree in accounting/finance, a CPA or MBA, at least eight years of progressive accounting experience, and expert Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Undergrad degree in accounting/finance/business.
• Professional accounting designation (CPA/CA/CMA/CGA or MBA).
• Minimum 8 years of relevant accounting/finance experience.
• Solid understanding of GAAP, IFRS, corporate policies and standards.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop corporate accounting policies.
• Identify areas for accounting and policy development.
• Respond to inquiries and escalate issues as required.
• Provide interpretation on IFRS and corporate policies.
• Oversee quarterly audit committee material.
• Oversee compensation accounting.
• Ensure completeness, accuracy, and integrity of financial information.
• Ensure compliance with CEO/CFO Certification requirements.
• Be a subject matter expert and train/coach team members.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and assignments.
