We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. This role is responsible for month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and cost analysis to ensure accurate financial records and provide insights into cost control and efficiency.

About the Opportunity
Month-End Close & Journal Entries:

• Prepare and post cost-related journal entries (e.g., inventory adjustments, accruals, overhead allocations).
• Ensure timely and accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations and expense recognition.
• Maintain work-in-progress (WIP) and inventory accounts, ensuring proper valuation.

Reconciliation & Financial Accuracy:

• Perform monthly reconciliations of inventory accounts, cost accruals, and other cost-related accounts.
• Investigate and resolve variances between actual and standard costs.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts related to cost accounting, including material, labor, and overhead.

Cost Reporting & Analysis:

• Generate and analyze cost reports, identifying trends and variances.
• Prepare gross margin and profitability analysis for management review.
• Assist in monitoring cost reduction initiatives and process improvements.

Budgeting & Forecasting Support:

• Assist in preparing cost estimates for budgeting and forecasting.
• Support operational teams by providing insights into cost drivers and efficiency improvements.

Compliance & Process Improvement:

• Ensure adherence to internal controls, GAAP, and company policies.
• Identify opportunities to enhance cost accounting processes and implement best practices.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, general accounting, or financial analysis.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, inventory accounting, and cost allocation.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.

Pay Rate:
$35/Hour
