Salary: This position starts at $65,000 per year and increases to $89,000 per year over a 10-year period. This salary range incorporates experience, yearly salary increments to reward years of service, employee growth, and development within the organization.
Purpose of the Job:
DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society is seeking a full-time Accounting Administrator to support our finance team. Reporting to the Sr. Accounting Administrator, the Assistant Manager is responsible for the finance operations of DIVERSEcity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and all statutory reporting/remittances.
- Reviews accounts payable coding, approval, and ensures payment details are correct; payments are made on time.
- Supports reconciling all accounts on a monthly basis.
- Recommends and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Monitors, analyzes, and reports on contract performance (financial and otherwise).
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with staff to provide information and answer questions regarding finance, budgets, and contracts.
- Liaises with departmental managers to resolve contract and budget issues.
- Establishes collaborative, high-integrity relationships with funders, partners, colleagues, and government authorities.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for exempt and union employees, in compliance with regulations and laws.
- Supports year-end payroll tasks, including statutory reporting (T4s, T4As, etc.).
- Supports the implementation of new accounting or payroll systems, including employee training and manual creation.
- Assists with the administration of group health, Manulife benefit programs, and employee pension plans.
- Performs special projects and other duties as required.
Key Liaison:
- Internally with program and administration staff.
- Externally with funders, customers, partners, Canada Revenue Agency, auditors, banks, and CSSEA.
Qualifications:
- Chartered Professional Accountant or Certified Payroll Management designation, or equivalent education and experience.
- 1 to 3 years of progressive experience in a complex labor relations environment (preferably non-profit), or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to provide strong leadership and work independently and collegially in a team environment.
- Ability to analyze information and make sound judgments, demonstrating expertise and credibility.
- Ability to manage a demanding schedule with competing priorities.
- Ability to streamline workflow processes and implement continuous improvements.
- Experience creating highly functioning teams with limited resources.
- Cross-cultural experience or knowledge of immigrant settlement and integration issues.
- Experience in community-based non-profit societies.
- Strong written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
- Strong negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution, and contract interpretation skills.
- Strong administrative, organizational, and budget management skills.
- Experience with Sage (accounting system), Payworks (payroll system), Microsoft Office, and social media/applications.
