Morguard, a leading Canadian real estate company, seeks an Accountant, Corporate in Mississauga to support consolidated financial statements and reporting for North America assets.

The role reports to the Assistant Controller, Corporate Accounting and requires 1–2 years in corporate accounting, a business degree, and progress toward a CPA designation. Competitive salary and benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Commerce or equivalent.
  • Working towards CPA designation is required.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in corporate accounting and financial reporting or equivalent.
  • General understanding of Canadian GAAP and IFRS.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office knowledge.
  • Experience with Yardi 7S is an asset.

Responsabilités

  • General Accounting: maintenance of day-to-day general ledger transactions and journal entries.
  • Financial Reporting: assist in consolidated financial statements and related note disclosures.
  • Quarterly/Annual Audit: coordinate working papers and respond to audit queries.
  • Management Reporting: prepare NOI, occupancy and leasing metrics.
  • Reforecast and Budget: support annual budget and variance analysis.

Where You’ll Add Value

The Accountant, Corporate will report to the Assistant Controller, Corporate Accounting for corporate accounting and reporting functions for Morguard. This includes providing accurate and timely financial information as required by management, including the preparation and completion of Morguard’s consolidated financial statements.

How You’ll Make a Difference

1. General Accounting

Responsible for maintenance/oversight of the day-to-day general ledger transactions, including drafting and input of journal entries

2. Financial Reporting

Assist in the preparation of Morguard’s consolidated financial statements and revising/updating the financial statements to address review comments

Preparation of note disclosures and the associated working papers to ensure completeness and accuracy of the financial statements

Responsible for determining and recording elimination and consolidation journal entries

Assist in preparing internal reporting packages to provide further support for the consolidated financial statements

Monitoring of monthly and quarterly reporting timeline

Assist in the preparation of financial statements for various external reporting requirements

3. Quarterly/Annual Audit

Responsible for co-ordinating and managing the delivery of all working papers and supporting documents to facilitate the completion of the internal audit

Assist with the audit processes through the preparation and compilation of the working papers to resolve external audit queries and liaise with auditors

4. Management Reporting

Responsible for the preparation of various management reporting for key industry metrics including NOI, occupancy & leasing activity

5. Reforecast and Budget

Prepare annual management and financial reporting packagesProvides assistance, where necessary, to the annual budget and periodic re-forecasting processes, including variance analysis

Any other job-related duties and/or projects that may be assigned.

The Expertise You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Commerce or equivalent

  • Working towards a CPA designation is required

  • Minimum 1 – 2 years of experience in Corporate accounting and financial reporting or equivalent

  • General understanding of Canadian GAAP and IFRS

  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of MS Office applications

  • Demonstrated track record of creating and implementing strategic change and innovation would be an asset

  • Working knowledge of Yardi 7S would be an asset

Annualized Base Salary Range: $70,000-$90,000 CAD.
