We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance & Operations, this role is responsible for managing the full set of books independently and overseeing all accounting functions to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the organizations financial systems.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full set of books, including general ledger (GL) account maintenance, expenses management, accrued liabilities, cost allocation, invoicing management, bank reconciliations, and revenue reconciliations.
Prepare monthly financial statements and related reports.
Process payroll and maintain payroll records, including all related government remittances.
Prepare and submit various government filings, such as HST, Property Tax Rebate, Employer Health Tax, and T3010.
Maintain accurate financial records and the contract filing system.
Prepare financial documents and working papers for external audits.
Perform other accounting and finance-related tasks as assigned by the management.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 5 years of experience managing a full set of books.
Experience in the not-for-profit sector is a strong asset.
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance (preferred).
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Proficiency in QuickBooks, Payworks, and Microsoft Excel (with knowledge of pivot table preferred).
Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines and work independently.
Successful completion of a vulnerable sector police clearance.
