Position Overview

The TEAM Companies’ Talent Division provides talent business affairs and payroll services to the advertising, visual effects, and electronic games industries. As the employer of record on behalf of its clients, accuracy and timeliness are essential to compliance with union, legal and employee payroll requirements and expectations. This is a key, “self-starter” position that requires supervisory skills, accuracy, attention to detail, initiative and a pro-active approach to duties and responsibilities and working with colleagues. Discretion in handling company and private or personal client and employee information is required, along with a positive attitude, professional ethics, and conduct.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Interface between clients and payroll team on project set-up, payroll processing, residuals breakdown and processing, review, and verification of payroll.
  2. Setting up new clients in the system.
  3. Residual estimating.
  4. Client support for talent contract inquiries, audits, union waivers and final cast determinations.
  5. Successful processing of payroll within company’s turn-around time frame.
  6. Data and project system maintenance to ensure accuracy of records and client notifications.
  7. Assist in establishing payroll procedures.
  8. Assist with checking or verifying Payroll – Union & Non-Union / Review of outgoing invoices.
  9. Attend off-site meetings with clients as needed.
  10. Participate in new business pitches when requested.
  11. Support Accounts Receivables department in collecting past due payments from clients.
  12. Train junior staff in both payroll and union rules and regulations.
  13. Back-up other staff members with payroll (union and non-union) and assist or fill in for colleagues when required due to absence or workload.
  14. Assist in review, evaluation, testing and quality assurance for internal proprietary programs and systems.
  15. Assist with additional or special tasks or projects as requested. (This would be after learning systems and procedures.)

Key Qualifications

  1. Must have either some University business courses or equivalent work experience.
  2. Knowledge of Advertising Talent Management, Business Affairs and/or Traffic.
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; ability to communicate clearly and accurately with clients, colleagues and staff.
  4. Positive attitude and outstanding client service skills.
  5. Knowledge of government and entertainment/advertising industry rules and regulations for payroll.
  6. Basic office skills and abilities, knowledge of standard office equipment – computers, phones, copiers, fax, etc.
  7. Professional interaction with colleagues, team members and other department staff as well as management and executives in a business office setting.
  8. PC Computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and ability and willingness to learn new and/or proprietary computer applications as required.
  9. Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  10. Flexibility and multi-tasking abilities as well as working well under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience working with U.S. and Canadian performer unions (SAG-AFTRA, ACTRA, UDA AFM/CFM).
  2. Minimum of 5 years of work experience in advertising or entertainment talent payroll.
  3. French Bilingualism.

Special Work Conditions

Sedentary – Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Some positions may entail exerting up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, or pull.

Compensation is commensurate with various factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, training, licensure, certifications, geographic cost of labor, and other business and organizational needs. The compensation range for this position is: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year.
