Job summary

The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a Claims Assistant - Accident Benefits to support the National Accident Benefits Claims team. You will manage claim documentation, process payments, and monitor queues in a hybrid work setting across Canada.

You will work with the team to ensure regulatory compliance, deliver accurate records, and provide exceptional service to members in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; post-secondary education in Business Administration, Office Administration, Insurance, or related field is asset.
• Pursuing CIP designation is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with a customer-focused approach.
• Experience in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments with multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Review, organize, and process claims documentation per regulatory and internal procedures.
• Process Health Claims for Auto Insurance (HCAI) invoices, with accurate tagging and payment.
• Monitor work queues (HCAI matching, litigation mailbox, mediation mailbox) and meet turnaround times.
• Maintain complete claim files with updates and supporting documents.
• Complete claim downloading, assignment, and workflow routing with accuracy.
• Prepare and distribute accurate correspondence with attention to detail.
• Maintain productivity and quality while juggling multiple priorities.
• Collaborate with Recovery Care Specialists to support efficient operations.
• Perform clerical duties including e-faxing, emailing, and electronic file handling.
• Take on other duties and special projects as assigned.
