This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

This position is part-time and has an initial appointment of 4 months.

Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Position

The Faculty of Education invites applications for a part-time Academic Teaching Staff to teach the following course in the Fall 2025 term. This course is part of the Teacher Education North program, located in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

EDEL 321 Introduction to Curriculum and Pedagogy in Elementary School Physical Education

This course is designed to prepare students to teach Physical Education effectively in an elementary school setting. The goals to this end integrate understanding of child development, physical education, health, curriculum and pedagogy and making curricula links.

Minimum Qualifications

  • The successful applicant will hold a Master's Degree (minimum, PhD preferred) in Education with at least one graduate course in the specific curricular subject area, or leadership experience in the subject area at the K-9 level in a school district.
  • A commitment to the University’s Indigenous initiatives, and principles of equity, diversity, and inclusivity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A strong K-12 classroom teaching background and demonstrated teaching excellence.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate education courses, including serving as a teaching assistant.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Familiarity and facility with online teaching platforms such as Moodle, Canvas, D2L, etc.
