Pathways to Independence in Belleville is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support all staff across the employee lifecycle. This role focuses on talent acquisition, labour and employee relations, attendance and leave administration, disability and accommodation case management, and performance management.

The successful candidate will collaborate with leaders to provide practical HR guidance, ensure HRIS data integrity, reporting and compliance, and support engagement.

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development or related field.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation or in-progress is an asset.
  • 3–5 years of HR experience.
  • Experience in a unionized environment.
  • Valid driver's license and access to an automobile.

Responsibilities

  • Talent Acquisition – attract candidates to meet organizational needs.
  • Employee Relations – support management on union related issues.
  • Ability Management – Stay at Work/Return to Work planning and support.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and implement corrective action as required.
  • Coordinate STD, LTD and WSIB claims and liaise with insurers to support RTW.
  • Support accreditation, recognition, wellness and safety activities as required.

The Human Resources Generalist works closely with all staff to ensure the agency attracts, hires, trains, and develops the best employees to fulfill the vision and mission of Pathways. The Generalist will have expertise across the full employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, labour and employee relations, attendance management, leave administration, disability and accommodation case management, and performance management. The incumbent will collaborate with leaders to provide practical HR guidance, resolve workplace issues, and support employee engagement. The Generalist will also provide support in HRIS data integrity, reporting & compliance, and performance management as required.

Key Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
  • Talent Acquisition – Well versed in recruitment strategies to attract the best candidates to meet organizational needs.
  • Employee Relations - Act as a resource and provide support for union related issues to management.
  • Ability Management- Stay at Work (SAW)/Return to work (RTW) - Supports managers in their efforts to assist employees SAW and/or RTW following a medical absence or workplace injury.
  • Experience in conducting workplace investigations and recommends/implements corrective action as required.
  • Ability to coordinate STD, LTD and WSIB claims, liaising between workers and insurance carriers as required to facilitate RTW activities.
  • Familiar with Stay at Work (SAW)/ Return to Work (RTW) planning and documentation process.
  • Support the Human Resources team and agency in related HR functions such as accreditation, recognition, wellness & safety as assigned and required.
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications/experience:
  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree from an accredited College or University in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development or a related field.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation or in-progress an asset.
  • 3-5 years of related Human Resources experience
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Valid driver's license and access to an automobile.
Ideal candidates will also have skills and abilities which include:
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present positive professional presence.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions independently.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, outlook, office 365, disability software, familiarity with HRIS System).
  • High degree of tact, diplomacy and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Highly organized with effective time management skills.

Note: Some travel is required for this position, out of town travel may also be required to meet operational demands. A clear Criminal Check including a vulnerable sector search is required for this position. Regular attendance is a requirement for this position.
