Job summary

Nighthill Recruitment Agency in Aurora, ON is seeking an HR Generalist to support recruitment, HRIS management, and employee benefits administration within the People and Culture team.

You will manage full cycle recruitment, maintain ADP Workforce Now, coordinate onboarding, handle probation reviews, and assist with collective agreements and health and safety initiatives. Strong HRIS knowledge and bilingual ability are assets.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Human Resources Management Program from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Member in good standing with HRPA.
  • Holds the CHRP designation.
  • Must have a minimum of two years work experience in recruitment and other HR functions.
  • Must be proficient and have thorough knowledge in ADP Workforce Now.
  • Must have labour relations experience in a unionized environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of Ontario Employment Standards Act & Ontario Human Rights.
  • Code and other relevant legislation.
  • Sound knowledge of AOAR practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full cycle recruitment & selection process, including draft job descriptions and postings, conduct phone screenings, develop interview questions in consultation with supervisor, coordinate and conduct interviews, complete reference checks.
  • Assist with agency planning of staffing requirements.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of new recruitment initiatives and resources.
  • Compile recruitment measurement data and keep up with latest recruiting trends.
  • Maintain accurate data and information of employee records on agency's HRIS, ADP Workforce Now Time and Attendance platforms.
  • Train new staff and supervisors on ADP Workforce Now.
  • Collaborate in initiating the implementation of the various ADP Workforce Now platforms.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues within the HRIS by maintaining the existing ADP platforms with on-going updates and conduct ad-hoc reports through ADP Workforce Now as required.
  • Draft employment agreements, contract extensions and internal employee transitions.
  • Coordinate and conduct full onboarding process and orientation for new hires.
  • Review and ensure accuracy of time management records, including vacation, flex, paid personal leave, etc.
  • Coordinate probationary performance review process following 3 months/6 months of employment for new employees
  • Act as a resource for leadership team for follow up and review of probationary review outcomes
  • Administer and maintain Employee Group Benefits program
  • Ensure daily tasks and responsibilities are conducted with an AOAR framework
  • Assist leadership with application and interpretation of collective agreement to ensure compliance.
  • Participate as active management member of JHSC and LMC; lead WHMIS trainings.
  • Coordinate and submit WSIB claims for agency employees as required
  • Act as a resource to agency staff for all HR related matters, including policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Assist the Director, People and Culture in facilitating grievance meetings and prepare for negotiations
  • Coordinate and track training and development initiatives and maintain staff talent profiles.
  • Coordinate with Finance for education reimbursement per collective agreement.
  • Conduct presentations at staff meetings and audits of staff registrations.

About the job Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist will work within the HR department, with a strong focus on recruitment and selection, HRIS, and Employee Group Benefits administration, and will support the Director, People and Culture in maintaining the day-to-day operations of the various HR policies, processes, protocols, and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support and lead health and safety initiatives and trainings such as WHMIS training and health and safety policy review as a member of the JHSC
  • Participate as active management member of Labour Management Committee (LMC)
  • Coordinate and submit WSIB claims for agency employees as required
  • Act as a resource to agency staff for all HR related matters, including policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Assist the Director, People and Culture and/or any other Director in facilitating grievance meetings and/or prepare for negotiations, mediation/arbitration.
  • Coordinate and track training and development initiatives within the agency and maintain staffs talent profiles for all internal and external training.
  • Coordinate with Finance for the reimbursement of education allowance for agency staff upon completion of approved training as per the collective agreement.
  • Conduct presentations at all staff meetings as needed.
  • Conduct regular audits to verify staff registrations and memberships with professional colleges, associations, and other regulatory bodies, and provide a comprehensive report to the Director, People and Culture with any follow up requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
