Job summary

OCL Group Inc. is seeking a Third Year Apprentice Pipefitter to join our Redwater-area team through November. The role supports industrial construction projects across Western Canada, emphasizing safety and quality.

The successful candidate will interpret piping drawings, assemble and install piping systems, mentor junior apprentices, and ensure compliance with codes and standards. A strong safety mindset is essential, with required tickets and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Registered as a 3rd Year Apprentice Pipefitter/Steamfitter.
  • Industrial construction experience (mining, oil & gas, heavy industry) preferred.
  • Physically demanding environment; outdoor work in varying weather.
  • Valid safety tickets: H2S Alive, WHMIS 2015, CSTS-2020 (or equivalent).
  • Standard First Aid is an asset.
  • Strong safety culture and teamwork.
  • Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test required.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record; pass pre-employment checks.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret complex piping drawings, isometric drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Perform independent assembly, layout, and installation of piping systems and components.
  • Execute precise bolt-up of flanges and provide critical support during hydro and pneumatic testing.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to 1st and 2nd-year apprentices on-site.
  • Identify potential hazards and lead safety discussions or toolbox meetings.
  • Ensure all work complies with OCL quality standards and industry codes.

The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Third Year Apprentice Pipefitter to join our team for work in the Redwater area. This will go till November.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret complex piping drawings, isometric drawings, and P&IDs
  • Perform independent assembly, layout, and installation of piping systems and components

Education/Skills/Qualifications
  • Registered as a 3rd Year Apprentice Pipefitter/Steamfitter
  • Previous industrial construction experience (mining, oil & gas, heavy industrial) preferred
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including climbing, lifting, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Must have valid safety tickets (H2S Alive, WHMIS 2015, CSTS-2020 (or equivalent)
  • Standard First Aid is an asset.
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test
  • Valid driver’s license, clean drivers abstract and ability to pass pre-employment requirements
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Must be able to to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
