Job summary

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited is seeking a Third Cook in Penticton, BC for a casual role in a fast-paced kitchen. You will prepare and present food to high standards while following strict food-safety rules.

The position offers a supportive team, opportunities for training and development, and a competitive wage consistent with a casual schedule in a major national company.

Qualifications

• Secondary school diploma or at least one year of related work experience.
• Safe food handling course and knife handling skills are preferred.
• Proven high level of customer service and knowledge of kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• Proper preparation and presentation of food with strict adherence to food safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary and organized work space per health regulations.
• Assist with inventory and putting orders away.
• Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner.
• Adhere to departmental quality standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Proper preparation and presentation of food with strict adherence to food safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary and organized work space in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the requirements of the Board of Health.
• Assist with inventory and putting orders away.
• Perform all job duties in a safe and responsible manner.
• Adhere to departmental quality standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

What You Bring

• A secondary school diploma or a minimum of one-year related work experience.
• A sense of pride in the work you do.
• Safe food handling course, knife handling skills.
• Proven high level of Customer Service.
• Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and procedures.
• The ability to work and excel in a fast-paced large volume business.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Able to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in hot, cold and humid environments.
• Food Safe certification preferred.
