Finning Canada is hiring 3rd/4th year Heavy Duty Field Mechanics Apprentices to support our customers in the Oil Sands. If you have CAT mining equipment field service experience and are looking to advance your career in a customer-facing field role, this job is for you.

This field position operates on a 14x14 day/night continuous shift from Mildred Lake, with industry-leading wages, shift premiums, vacation, and CAT certification training paid by Finning.

Qualifications

• Must be a current 3rd or 4th year Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice.
• Willing to work towards Heavy Equipment Technician Certification.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license with a recent driving abstract.
• Meet Finning's education and testing prerequisites including Alberta Collective Agreement requirements.
• Highly motivated and safety focused; excellent communication skills and basic computer skills.
• Previous Caterpillar experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar equipment.
• Assist with a variety of field repairs and diagnostics as required.
• Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily.
• Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes).
• Interact with customers, sales support, and the Finning team.
• Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on tasks as required.

Important Detail: This field position is on a 14x14 day/night continuous shift rotation based out of our Mildred Lake facility A condition of employment is the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current Collective Agreement Please note that any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement You are required to become a member of the Union associated with this position. This will be effective immediately and will result in union dues being deducted
