Job summary

American Iron & Metal (AIM) is seeking a skilled 310T Mechanic to join our team in a biweekly rotation from days to afternoons. You will maintain, diagnose, and repair a diverse fleet of heavy-duty trucks and equipment used in our metal recycling operations.

This is hands-on work requiring strong technical knowledge and a commitment to safety. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, accurate record-keeping, and collaboration with the Parts Department to ensure parts availability.

Qualifications

• Valid 310T Truck and Coach certificate (an asset).
• Experience as a 310T Mechanic in heavy-duty trucking or maintenance environment.
• Knowledge of heavy-duty truck and equipment components (engines, transmissions, diagnosis).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time and workload.
• Experience in the metal recycling industry (an asset).
• Own set of handtools.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, loaders, forklifts, and other equipment used in metal recycling operations.
• Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and implement effective repair solutions.
• Follow established maintenance schedules to perform regular servicing, fluid changes, lubrication, and component replacements.
• Conduct major and minor repairs, including engine overhauls, transmission repairs, brake system replacements, and hydraulic system troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including service reports, parts usage, and equipment history in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of PPE and safe work practices in shop and field environments.
• Coordinate with Parts Department to order parts, track inventory levels, and ensure availability of required components for repairs and maintenance.
