Job summary

The Township of Esquimalt seeks an auxiliary Custodian Maintenance Worker for the Parks and Recreation Department. You will perform routine cleaning in the Recreation Centre and washrooms, monitor pool areas, and set up rooms for events and activities.

Key qualifications include Pool Operator’s Level 1 and 2 Certificates, a Class 5 BC Driver’s License with a clean record, and a clear vulnerable sector check. Salary is $34.69–$37.35 hourly, with 14% in lieu of benefits.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid Pool Operator’s Level 1 and 2 Certificates.
• Partial high school graduation acceptable with training.
• Completion of Building Maintenance Worker Course preferred.
• Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License and clean driving record.
• Criminal record check including vulnerable sector clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning at Recreation Centre and washrooms.
• Monitor, clean and disinfect changerooms, activity rooms, lockers and halls.
• Set up rooms for functions and events, indoors and outdoors.
• Handle cleaning materials and pool chemistry tests.
• Perform basic maintenance of pool equipment.

The Esquimalt Recreation Centre is a multi-purpose wellness and community recreation facility. Features of the Recreation Centre include: 4500 + square foot Wellness Centre, featuring state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment, gymnasium, aquatic centre with six-lane 25 metre lap pool, warm “lifestyle pool” and tot pool with spray features, wheelchair accessible hot-tub, steam room, and sauna. About the Opportunity:

The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill an auxiliary Custodian Maintenance Worker position. Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, the ideal candidate will perform routine cleaning services in the Recreation Centre and Parks washrooms; monitor, clean, and disinfect changerooms, washrooms, activity rooms, lockers, and hallways; set up rooms for functions, indoor and outdoor events; handle various cleaning materials; test and adjust pool chemistry; and perform routine servicing and maintenance of pool equipment.
