Job summary

St. Joe's Charlton Campus in Hamilton Downtown is seeking a part-time Telecommunicator to support 24-7 switchboard and paging services, handling calls, paging, and emergency lines.

The role requires Grade 12, at least 6 months switchboard experience, proficiency with Windows MS Office, and strong customer service. You will maintain on-call rosters, monitor alarms, and assist information desk while upholding confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 6 months related experience in switchboard, preferably in healthcare.
• Proficiency with Windows based systems (MS Office) and a PC-based directory/paging system.
• Typing 35 wpm; clerical testing may be required.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Answer main hospital internal and external telephone lines and emergency lines.
• Process calls accurately and courteously and refer as needed.
• Maintain on-call schedules and information desk inquiries.
• Operate paging equipment and overhead announcements per policy.
• Monitor fire panels, gas/building alarms, and security systems.
• Provide administrative support and assist with clerical duties as assigned.
