Overview

RBC Capital Markets is a part of the Royal Bank of Canada, one of the largest providers of financial services in the world. The Real Estate Corporate Banking (RECB) platform focuses on real estate finance products supporting institutional firms and top-tier operating partners, origination of credit capital to finance major commercial real estate product types, principally in Canada with coverage in the US, Europe and other regions where clients operate. RECB provides debt capital market solutions for premier real estate owners and sponsors, targeting publicly traded REITs, Canadian pension fund subsidiaries focused on CRE, and real estate private equity/asset management clients. RECB oversees a loan portfolio of C$11.5B of commitments and offers secured/unsecured revolving facilities, term loans, capital call facilities, construction loans, commercial mortgages, bridge financing, and related derivative facilities.

What is the opportunity?

RECB is seeking a co-op/intern for Summer 2026. Analysts work on deal teams to evaluate, underwrite and structure senior debt investments in the commercial real estate space. Analysts participate across all stages of a transaction with a focus on financial analysis, valuation, and market research, gaining exposure to full-time analysts, associates, and senior team members within RECB and RBC Capital Markets.

As a Summer Analyst you will benefit from a mentor, informal mentoring from team members, and a program featuring social events to facilitate networking and discuss career opportunities.

Tasks/Responsibilities
  • Perform valuation analysis using methodologies including discounted cash flow, multiples valuation, and transaction comparables
  • Build detailed financial models to evaluate real estate performance under various scenarios and analyze impacts of different capital structures
  • Prepare presentation materials for committee meetings on deal strategy, market overviews, and CRE activity
  • Participate in all stages of real estate debt transaction origination, from due diligence to closing
  • Coordinate efforts with deal team members and capital markets colleagues
