Job summary

Alleguard in Calgary, AB, seeks a 2nd Shift Quality Technician to inspect, test, sort, sample, measure, or weigh materials and finished parts for defects. You will assist the Quality Supervisor in compiling and reporting data, and coordinate quality standards with customers and inspectors.

Pay is CAD 20/hr with a 6am–2:30pm schedule and flexible production needs. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least 2 years in quality inspection/management, with supervisory experience

Qualifications

  • Periodic physical exertion and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Minimum 2 years in quality inspection/management, preferably in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Discuss inspection results with product owners and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate First Part Approval (FPA) procedures per requirements.
  • Discard or quarantine non-conforming items and monitor quality using QMS.
  • Ensure calibration of measuring/testing equipment.
  • Record and maintain inspection/test data (weights, temperatures, grades).
  • Issue approved QSS and work instructions before each production run.
  • Perform daily item packaging/labeling verification for QSS compliance.
  • Provide leadership to Quality team and assist in training.

Position: 2nd Shift Quality Technician
Job Summary

Inspect, test, sort, sample, measure, or weigh raw materials or processed, machined, fabricated, or assembled parts or products for defects, wear, and deviations from specifications. May use precision measuring instruments and complex test equipment. Assist the Quality Supervisor in the compilation and reporting of quality data. Communicates and coordinates quality standards and activities with customers and Quality Inspectors.

Pay: $20/hr CAD
Schedule:
  • Monday through Friday
  • 6am-2:30pm
  • Flexibility is a must; schedule subject to change based on production needs
Responsibilities
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products and recommend
    necessary corrective actions.
  • Coordinate First Part Approval (FPA) procedures in conformance with
    established company or customer requirements.
  • Discard or quarantine for inspection products, materials, and equipment not
    meeting specifications. Monitor all aspects of product quality and manage the
    process using the company’s Quality Management Software (QMS) program.
  • Ensure that all measuring/testing equipment is properly calibrated.
  • Record and maintain accurate and complete inspection or test data, such as
    weights, temperatures, grades, or moisture content and quantities inspected or
    graded.
  • Issue approved QSS (Quality Standard) and work instructions prior to the start of
    every production run.
  • Perform daily spot check verification of item packaging/labeling configuration to
    insure conformance to the QSS.
  • Provide leadership to the Quality department personnel, including directing
    work activities and follow up.
  • Assist in the training of Quality department personnel.
  • Assist Plant Manager and/or Quality Supervisor in applicable employee training
    events.
  • Compliance with legal environmental and safety requirements of the area.
  • Focus effort to ensure that the administration / quality management system
    achieves the intended results, in the activities that develops.
  • Promote improvement.
  • Know the environmental aspects of the area and its control.
  • Know the environmental impacts associated with their activities.
  • Identify specific environmental requirements of the customer.
  • Follow all Environmental and Safety policies.
  • Comply with procedures, regulations, and instructions of environmental and
    safety programs.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Position may require periods of intense physical exertion in conditions of low to high
    temperatures and humidity. Position requires ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis. Position requires frequent and repeated standing, stooping, bending, and grasping.
  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate); Minimum of 2 years
    employment experience in quality inspection/management position (preferably in a
    manufacturing environment).
  • Relevant supervisory experience may be substituted for the
    education requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager or Director of Quality
