Job summary

ATCO Frontec is seeking a 1st Cook for its Camp Services team at Artemis Blackwater Mine in British Columbia. The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of experience in the hotel/restaurant industry, and an Advanced Food Safe Certificate. Responsibilities include preparing meals to the highest standard, assisting the Chef, managing inventory, and training subordinate staff. This is a rotational position with all meals and accommodation provided while on site.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years’ experience as 1st Cook in the hotel/restaurant industry.
• Advanced Food Safe Certificate required.
• Valid CSTS and First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chef in managing food services in compliance with guidelines.
• Prepare all foods to be served at the designated time.
• Assist in inventory control to assure proper stock.

Description

ATCO Frontec is seeking a 1st Cook to join our Camp Services team at Artemis Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia, approximately 160 km southwest of Prince George and 450 km northeast of Vancouver. The 1st Cook is responsible for ensuring that meals are prepared and served to the highest standard possible and may provide coverage of the Chef’s position when he/she is out on rotation. The rate for this position is $29.67 an hour. Rates may be subject to change.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chef in managing food services in strict compliance with ATCO Frontec Food Service Management Guides
• Assist the Chef in the preparation of all foods to be served at the designated time
• Assist the Chef in inventory control to assure proper minimum stock
• Order supplies in accordance with the population of the lodge
• Ensure that the meals are prepared and served to the highest standard
• Oversee stocking of all food serving areas according to the number of persons to be served, focusing on quality, appearance, adequate stocking levels, and minimizing leftovers and product waste
• Train and direct subordinate food service workers, ensuring compliance with company and client safety requirements
• Supervise subordinate staff to ensure the highest sanitary standards are maintained in all food preparation, serving sanitation, storage areas and safety procedures in accordance with company, client, and governmental requirements
• Conduct safety toolbox talks as required to the department
• Assign duties, responsibilities, and work areas to ensure efficient service
• Inspect facilities or equipment for regulatory compliance, including kitchen logs and daily cleaning schedules
• Clean kitchen, utensils and equipment
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
