Job summary

ATCO Frontec is seeking a 1st Cook for our Jansen, SK site to ensure meals meet company standards. You will cover the Chef during rotations and supervise kitchen operations for day or night shifts.

Required: 5+ years in food service, Red Seal, Advanced Food Safe, and a valid Class 5 license. CSTS is a plus. Camp living with meals provided; safety sensitive role with pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

Wicehtowak Frontec Services is seeking a 1st Cook to join our team in Jansen, SK. The 1st Cook will be responsible for ensuring that meals are prepared and served in accordance with company standards. The 1st Cook provides coverage for the Chef when he/she is out on rotation.

Where We Work and Live

The Jansen Discovery Lodge is a workforce housing facility in support of the BHP Jansen potash mine. The camp is located 155 kilometers east of Saskatoon, SK. Our positions work on a 14 day on, 7 days off rotation. Accommodations and meals during your work rotations are provided by the company.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chef in managing food services in compliance with Food Service Management Guides and Provincial and Federal Regulations.
• Assist the Chef in the preparation of all foods to be served in accordance with meal plans and schedules.
• Assist the Chef in the inventory control to maintain appropriate level of inventory at all times.
• Conduct routine audits and inspections of kitchen operations, dining room, bag up room, equipment, and food handling practices to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide day or night shift supervision dependent on rotational schedule, ensuring consistent operations across all service periods.
• Supervise and support operations in the kitchen, bag up room, dining room, and dish area, ensuring all departments are running smoothly and meeting service standards.
• Ensure all team members are adhering to food safety standards, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature control procedures.
• Enforce and monitor the use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
• Lead and support a team, fostering a productive, safe, and accountable work environment.
• Assign duties and responsibilities to ensure that kitchen staff complete their given tasks in a professional and timely manner.
• Train workers in food preparation, service, sanitation, and safety procedures in accordance with government regulations and Health and Safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Inspect facilities or equipment for regulatory compliance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 5 or more years’ experience in a related field of work.
• Must have Red Seal Certification.
• Advanced Food Safe Certificate Required.
• Class 5 license and clean drivers abstract is required.
• CSTS would be an asset.
