Job summary

School District #8 (Kootenay Lake) is hiring a full-time Grade 3/4 Classroom Teacher at South Nelson Elementary School in Nelson, BC. The term ends December 18, 2026, or upon the incumbent's return, whichever comes first.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor of Education and a BC teaching certificate (or eligibility), have elementary multigrade experience, and be skilled in inclusive practices, trauma-informed approaches, and collaborative decision-making with families and community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education and elementary classroom experience.
• Valid BC teaching certificate, or eligibility to be certified by the assignment start date.
• Recent successful experience in an elementary multigrade setting.
• Knowledge of positive behavioural interventions, trauma-informed practices, inclusion, class profiles, and universal design strategies.
• Knowledge of the BC Education Plan, current instructional practices, and curriculum.
• Ability to use data to inform decisions and work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and community members.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues and communicate with staff and parents.
• Implement school-wide strategies to support student needs.

Compensation

$68,589-114,833 per year, based on qualifications and teaching experience as evaluated by the BC Teacher Qualification Service.
