Job summary

Eagle River Secondary in School District No. 83 seeks a 1.0 FTE temporary Grade 7/8 Math/Science and Explorations teacher. Assignment effective November 9, 2026 to June 30, 2027 or until return of the regular teacher.

The successful candidate will teach Core Grade 7/8 Math/Science, PE 9-12, Leadership and Careers 8, and an elective to be determined, contributing to a collaborative school community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts or Education (Secondary emphasis preferred).
• Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch.
• Experience teaching grade 7/8.
• Working knowledge of the current curriculum for grade 7/8.
• Demonstrated successful experience teaching at the Middle/Secondary level.
• Commitment to fostering a collaborative and cooperative working environment.
• Committed to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning.
• Evidence of ability to motivate secondary students.
• Demonstrated use of a variety of instructional and assessment strategies.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment with other staff members.
• Commitment to involving parents in the learning of their children.

Responsibilities

• Teach Core Grade 7/8 Math/Science, PE 9-12, Leadership and Careers 8 and an elective to be determined.
• Employ a variety of instructional and assessment strategies to support student learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues and involve parents in the learning process.

This is a temporary assignment effective November 9, 2026 to June 30, 2027 or to return of teacher to full contractual whichever comes first.

This assignment consists of teaching Core Grade 7/8 Math/Science, PE 9-12, Leadership and Careers 8 and an elective to be determined.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Arts or Education (Secondary emphasis preferred);
• Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch.

Teachers applying should possess the following attributes:
