1.0 FTE Core Grade 8 Teacher

Len Wood Middle School

This is a temporary assignment effective immediately to November 30, 2026 or to return of teacher to full contractual FTE.

This assignment will consist of teaching Math, Science, Physical Education and Careers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Arts or Science or Bachelor of Education (Middle or Secondary training)
• Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch.

Teachers applying for this position should possess the following attributes:

• demonstrated successful teaching experience with middle school aged students;
• a working knowledge of the current curriculum;
• awillingness to bepart of the LWMS middle school team;
• ability to comfortably work with and respond to a very involved parent community;
• demonstrated ability to use a variety of current instructional strategies and assessment methods;
• evidence of ability to effectively use current assessment practices;
• demonstrated ability to use effective teaching practices in relation to the three principles of learning;
• evidence of ability to motivate middle school students;
• committed to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning;
• ability to create a sense of belonging for students;
• excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a member of a grade level team and the entire Len Wood Middle School team;
• excellent classroom management skills;
• understanding of middle school philosophy and adolescent development;
• understanding of restitution practices;
• commitment to involving parents in the learning of their children;
