Niagara Health in St. Catharines is seeking a Registered Nurse, RPTB for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This regular part-time position offers 45 hours per pay period at Niagara's Marotta Family Hospital.

The RN will assess, diagnose, develop and evaluate comprehensive care plans for neonatal patients, delivering safe, patient- and family-centred care with compassion and professionalism in a high-acuity unit.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • One year of related clinical experience in the past three years in a neonatal intensive care environment.
  • Proof of completion of the Perinatal (Neonatal) Intensive Care Course, or willingness to complete within two years.
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation certification.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in neonatal physical assessment.
  • Knowledge of managing breastfeeding and family-centred care.

  • Implement and evaluate nursing care with high professional standards.

WAGE RANGE: $41.15 TO $58.98 PER HOUR

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Working to promote nursing excellence, quality patient/client-centered care and high professional standards, the Registered Nurse will be responsible for the assessment, nursing diagnosis, integrated care plan development, implementation and evaluation of nursing care. The objective of the Registered Nurse is to provide safe and competent care through the application of nursing knowledge, the technical aspects of professional practice and the demonstration of compassion, professionalism and respect. The incumbent will perform all other relevant duties assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the unit to which s/he is assigned. In the event there are no qualified applicants, this will be used as a training opportunity.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • One year of related clinical experience in the past three years in a neonatal intensive care environment
  • Proof of completion of the Perinatal (Neonatal) Intensive Care Course, or willingness to complete within two years
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation certification
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in neonatal physical assessment (Neonatal Physical Assessment course)
  • Knowledge of and commitment to promoting, protecting and supporting breastfeeding and family-centred care
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in physical assessment (Physical Assessment Course preferred)
  • Applies Niagara Health values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient/client centred care
  • Applies leadership skills by providing, facilitating and promoting quality patient care
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively as most responsible nurse in a total patient care model
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient and family education and the ability to promote health and wellness
  • Evidence of accurate, timely and appropriate documentation according to best practice guidelines and CNO standards
  • Applies knowledge, skills, judgment and competencies required for safe, independent and inter-disciplinary practice by meeting nursing practice standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and related professional associations
  • Integrates reflection, critical thinking, education and relevant practical experience in problem solving
  • Working knowledge of computers
  • Consistent and regular attendance required
