Farfetch is seeking a Frontend Engineer to join our global engineering team in Porto or Lisbon. You will own the technical lifecycle of high-scale web products and influence architecture, design systems, and performance.

We value collaboration across Product and Design, strong React/TypeScript skills, and a commitment to clean, tested code. The role offers a hybrid model with opportunities to contribute to open-source packages.

THE ROLE

Porto or Lisbon based We are looking for a Frontend Engineer to join our global engineering team. In this role, you will transition from simply building features to owning the technical lifecycle of high-scale web products. You will have a direct influence on our architecture, contribute to our open-source ecosystem, and help shape a scalable design system used by millions of fashion enthusiasts worldwide. We operate on a hybrid model out of our Porto or Lisbon hubs, balancing focused remote work with meaningful in-person collaboration.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Architect & Influence: Develop global-scale solutions for Farfetch.com, contributing directly to our core React-based architecture.
• Ownership: Take responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of personalized user experiences, from initial discovery with Product and Design to deployment.
• Collaborate: Work within a cross-functional team while engaging with the wider Front-end community to share knowledge and solve complex technical challenges.
• Systems Thinking: Contribute to and evolve our open-source packages and design system to ensure sustainability across all consumer products.
• Continuous Learning: Master modern web performance optimization, GraphQL integration, and advanced testing strategies in a rapidly evolving environment.

WHO YOU ARE

• Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in Front End development within collaborative, multi-team environments.
• Core Tech: Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and TypeScript.
• JavaScript & React: Deep understanding of JavaScript fundamentals (ES6+, closures, async programming) and significant experience building complex applications with React.
• Software Design: Solid grasp of JavaScript design patterns, data structures, and web architecture.
• Quality: A commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code supported by testing frameworks like Jest and React Testing Library.

Nice-to-Have

• Performance: Understanding of Web Vitals and performance optimization techniques.
• Data: Experience working with GraphQL APIs.
• Inclusivity & Reach: Practical knowledge of Web Accessibility (ARIA) and SEO best practices.
• Design Systems: Experience utilizing or contributing to centralized design systems to ensure UI consistency.
