Codurance seeks a senior Software Craftsperson to join our teams and help clients build well-crafted, maintainable software. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring autonomy, pragmatism, and a continuous improvement mindset across client engagements.

We are looking for a senior Software Craftsperson to join our teams and help clients build well-crafted, maintainable, and valuable software.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who combines strong technical depth with autonomy, pragmatism, and a continuous improvement mindset. You will work across client teams, helping them solve complex software challenges, improve engineering practices, and adopt AI-enabled ways of working in a responsible and effective way.

You should be comfortable working primarily with Java and TypeScript, while also bringing the curiosity and adaptability to work across other languages, platforms, and domains when needed. We value fullstack polyglot engineers who can make sound technical decisions based on context rather than preference alone.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who has:

• Extensive professional software engineering experience, ideally at senior, staff, principal, lead, or architect level.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and TypeScript.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
• Experience with CI/CD
• Strong engineering fundamentals: design, testing, refactoring, architecture, delivery, maintainability, and production-readiness.
• The ability to work across different languages, stacks, and domains.
• Experience working in autonomous environments where you were expected to identify problems and drive solutions.
• Good understanding of modern AI tools and how they can be used in professional software engineering.
• Practical exposure to tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor, or similar AI coding/reasoning assistants.
• Experience integrating AI tools into engineering workflows, not just experimenting with them individually.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

AI experience we expect

We will provide additional training, but we need people who already have meaningful exposure to AI-assisted engineering.

You should already be able to discuss and demonstrate how you use AI tools for some of the following:

• Accelerating software development without compromising quality.
• Generating and reviewing tests.
• Refactoring legacy or complex code.
• Exploring unfamiliar codebases.
• Producing technical documentation.
• Supporting architectural thinking and trade-off analysis.
• Debugging and root-cause analysis.
• Improving developer workflows.
• Using AI critically, with awareness of hallucinations, security, privacy, and maintainability risks.

We are not looking for someone who simply “uses AI prompts.” We are looking for someone who understands how AI can be integrated into professional engineering practices while preserving craftsmanship, judgement, and accountability.
